UBC/KMTC COIL 2024: Global Mental Health - A Cross-cultural Exploration

This instructor-led Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL)experience will provide students from University of British Columbia (UBC) and Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) the opportunity to know each other and learn from each other during this initial phase of the global mental health course. It will provide UBC and KMTC students a platform to enhance intercultural learning between themselves and also their context. It will center cultural humility and diversity in terms of geography, healthcare and academic institutions. Students will explore specific global mental health policies, programs and interventions to understand the global perspectives. It will further provide students an opportunity to work in group project that will culminate in the large summer course in May, 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya.
