CDE9411: Ultrasonics and Covid-19, A Strategy for A Strong Comeback
Ends Nov 30, 2023
2 credits
Full course description
The recent COVID-19 pandemic has brought increased awareness to a topic that was defined decades ago – aerosols in dentistry are a health risk. Fear and abandonment of procedures which have been proven to be beneficial to clients should not be the only strategy moving forward. With the right plan in place, dental health care professionals who choose to selectively implement ultrasonics can do so effectively while controlling aerosols and droplets. This session will help you establish the best practices needed now and beyond the pandemic.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
- Discuss how to sequence ultrasonic procedures to reduce aerosols, droplets and splatter.
- Describe the recommended options for combining pre-procedural rinses, personal protective equipment and high-volume evacuation to create the protection required within your practice.
- Debate the ideal characteristics of an effective HVE System, considering HVE tip selection and it’s positioning plus the main vacuum unit.
