Canadian Microbiology Proficiency Testing - Professional Development Course-2024

The CMPT's Professional Development program consists of three independent courses: Clinical Bacteriology, Mycology, and Enteric Parasitology and presents microbiology laboratory cases that aim to educate the laboratory professional on different aspects of the diagnostic process.

The cases include type of sample submitted, brief patient's history received by the laboratory and expected results.

Every case contains results reported by laboratories, comments on the results reported, identification of the relevan organism(s), antimicrobial susceptibility testing (if applicable), and clinical relevance.

Emphasis is given to the practical implication of laboratory practices on the results, updates on reporting practices, and guidelines.

Cases are constantly changing from year to year, making this course a constant challenge and educational tool for the laboratory professional
